Henri Austin, one of our U13's players, is reaching for the stars having signed a professional youth contract with Everton Football Club.
Henri has demonstrated a great attitude and work ethic, to achieve his goals so far this season. Henri has played for Deeside Dragons and Flint Town Academy, and has reached levels that not many would have expected. However, this is testament to his terrific character and his never give up attitude, which has helped raise the eyebrows amongst some of the elite clubs in the North West. He has attracted attention from at least 4 top pro clubs, all playing in England's top tier Premier league at senior level. Henri considered all of his options and chose to go with Everton FC.
Henri first signed for Dragons three seasons ago, low on confidence and considering whether football was the sport for him. I am delighted he chose to stick it out, as I knew deep down Henri was a top striker and one who had a knack for scoring goals. During his time with us at Dragons we helped him to discover his weaker foot and his self belief. We supported a player who has developed into pure class who never self doubts, who believes he is the best out there at his age group and a player who most importantly loves playing football!
Henri has always had the ability to go above and beyond, all he needed was self belief and the belief of his coaches and team mates.
Henri has scored 58 goals in 15 games for Deeside Dragons this season which has understandably attracted attention from some of the big boys from across the border.
Henri will be missed around the camp not only as he is a quality player, but a fantastic character in the team, thought highly of by all his fellow players and coaches.
Best of luck Henri, you have worked hard for this and you fully deserve this opportunity! No doubts we will see you and your parents on the side-lines supporting the boys.
